The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of lunar calendar in China and many other East Asian countries. Though it is believed to commemorate 屈原 (342-278 BC) the poet or 伍子胥 (559-484 BC) the politician, scholars claim that it origins from the avoidance of pestilence in the fifth lunar month. On the Dragon Boat Festival, people eat 粽子, drink 雄黄酒, held 龙舟 competition, hang 菖蒲 on door, wear 香囊 and 五彩丝线.
